Pearl Lee Wilson
It’s hard to believe its been three years since my dearest grandmother went home to be with our Father in heaven. Thanksgiving Day 2005, Grandma Pearly looked out the window by her bed and closed her eyes and went to heaven. I miss her and think of her almost everyday. She was the classic grandma; she cooked and baked like no other. Some of my favorite things she made for us girls where, believe it or not crispy fried liver, homemade French fries, pan fried bread, scrambled bandies eggs, and I mustn’t forget her famous fudge with corn flacks. My sisters and I would spend summers at Grandma Pearly’s farm. For me this was heaven, feeding the cows, picking eggs, and catching fire flies. At night we would lay in bed with Grandma and she would tell us stories about the old days. It was sooo dark at night; the only light was the star light sky and the fire flies in a mason jar beside our bed. My grandmother taught me many valuable lessons in life. She helped me with my math problems, and made me memorize The Lords Prayer. Grandma Pearl believed these where the two things in life that a Lady needed the most. She later tolled me to always sleep with a bra; she said I would understand later. I should have listened to that one.
WHAT ARE GRANDMAS FOR?
Grandmas are for stories about things of long ago.
Grandmas are for caring about all the things you know...
Grandmas are for rocking you and singing you to sleep.
Grandmas are for giving you nice memories to keep...
Grandmas are for knowing all the things you're dreaming of...
But, most importantly of all,
Grandmas are for love.
