Eclipse 2010

Well hello

I know I just posted yesterday and I'm back already.
I have some great pictures to share with you guys
and I didn't think they could wait.
Last night at 12:00 am I got a call from my 19 year old son Calum
I was all freaked out
When your teen calls at midnight it cant be good

Thank GOD everything was just fine
Calum just wanted to wake me up to see the Eclipse
He said....You don't want to miss this one mom it wont happen again in our life time.

I got the camera out and house coat on. I went down stairs and sat in the yard for the next two hours.
I was afraid I would fall asleep in the back yard and wake up with the neighbors standing over me

I took over 100 pictures and these are some of the best ones.

I sat in the yard praying with  thankfulness for this life and being able to wetness our mighty God at work

"He counts the number of the stars;
He calls them all by name."

Cornbread and Beans for Dinner

Hi Friends
I hope all is well with you and your families
I've been home for a few day now and I'm finely getting some Christmas baking done.
While I'm busy baking I don't make time to prepare
a  big dinner so I put a pot of beans on.
I had a few slices of ham that I took home from
a party the other night.
We cant have beans and ham with out
making our favorite corn bread

I've been making this corn bread for at least 20 years.
Its moist and sweet
When our son's were still at home they loved it so much
I had to bake two pans

I got this cast iron frying pan as a wedding gift 27 years ago.
I love it and I only make corn bread in it
 Okay Okay
Here is the recipe

Corn Bread
1/4 c. yellow cornmeal
1 c. flour
3 teas. baking powder
1/2 teas. salt
1 c. milk
1 egg, well beaten
2 table. melted shortening

Preheat the oven to 424. Grease an 8-inch square cake pan. Mix the cornmeal, flour, sugar, caking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Add the milk, egg, and shortening or bacon fat, and blend well. Spoon into the pan and bake for about 20 minutes. Cool and eat.
I add a few pads of butter on top before cutting it

This recipe is not my own
I got it from my favorite cook book
The Fannie Farmer Cookbook
 YUMMY

I hope you get a chance to make this  sweet cornbread
It will warm your tummy for these cold winter days

Lady In Waiting

For those of you that don't know my sweet girl, this is Yada.
She is 12 years old and pretty much rules the house
She is such sweet girl
I don't know what she is waiting on

This is one of her favorite places to set
She looks like she is waiting for a visitor

She has never had her own puppies
so she has
here adopted baby's near by

This is the other place in the house that
Yada likes to spend a lot of time

She likes the warmth of the sun light
and to watch the traffic go by

 Thanks for stopping by

In My Shoes

Granny K and Christopher enjoyed their dinner
I think that Christopher is sweet on his Great Grandma

I really think that sweet boy needs a haircut
But Mommy and Daddy don't think so
He likes to wear big shoes

I think this part of Christopher is just like me
